The concept of a Birding Lodge :
A birding lodge/resort basically refers to a property where birders can find accommodation and enjoy watching birds in the nearby environment. In other words, humans and birds would co-exist together in the same property. In order to ensure that birds do live in the resort, the managing staff would need to ensure that they can attract the birds with food and shelter. When the birds find all their necessities in the lodge, they would feel comfortable to start living in the partially artificial habitat.
Jungle Lore as a Birding Lodge :
As mentioned in my previous post, I went to a trip to Pangot where I came across Jungle Lore Birding Lodge. This property owned by Asian Adventures India, was the first ‘Birding Lodge’ that I ever came across.
The entire property contained bird-houses, planted perches, water-holes, bushes and trees (apart from birders’ cottages). They also arranged for hides from where bird activity could be observed for hours.

On observing the birds, I could understand that they were quite comfortable in the surroundings and that they do not experience any sort of unethical behavior. The following are a few birds that we saw in Jungle Lore, Pangot :
